To identify a WORM cartridge from an existing read/write cartridge, check the casing. The top and bottom halves of a WORM cartridge are different colors. In line with the Ultrium 3 standard, the top half of each manufacturer's cartridge casing is colored in accordance with that maker's Generation Color. For example, the top half of each Maxell cartridge is blue, while the bottom half is grey. Use a WORM cartridge with a WORM-compatible drive.
