Q303: [DLT/SDLT - FAQ for computer tapes] : A strange sound is heard after I insert a computer tape into the media drive.
A strange sound will be heard if the computer tape's reel gear does not engage with the media drive gear. In rare cases, the drive's signal lamps will all light up.If this happens, eject the computer tape from the drive and reinsert. If it continues to make a strange sound, contact our customer service center.
The drive makes a strange beeping sound after a computer tape is inserted. This is not an alert signal, but rather a sound caused by micro vibrations of the drive head. This can be fixed by reformatting the computer tape or rewriting the media's label after deleting all data.
